Khon Puppet Masks (set of 3)

Description

Tosakanth (green puppet at left) is the most important demon who wears the "crown of victory", which makes him the only character to have a three tier crown. Many Thai people believe that he is good, but behaves badly at times. All three of these paper mache puppet mask are made from "Khoi" paper which is made from tree bark. Dimensions: 7" H x 3 1/2" W x 5" D

Hanuman (white puppet in middle) is a half god- monkey who assisted Rama in his battle against Ravana/Tosakanth. Rama was battling to get his wife back from the demon, Tosakanth, who had captured her to get back at Rama for cutting off his sisters nose. Hanuman was the leader of the other monkey troops that fought for Rama. Dimensions: 3 1/2" H x 3 1/2" W x 4" D

Mahiravana (purple puppet at right) is the son of Tosakanth, but refused to help him fight Rama since he didn't agree with the kidnapping of Rama's wife, Sita. Mahiravana was later tricked into fighting for his father and ended up getting beheaded. Dimensions: 5" H x 3 1/2" W x 6" D
