Rare Giant Buddha Head
The Buddha’s eyes are downcast. The white of his eyes are made up of shell. His eyebrows are highly arched as typical of the shan type. His head is covered with shewbo-like thorns made from lacquer. He has a serene smile and has a youthful, almost baby-like face. He has a headband lined with floral decorations on his hair. On top of his head is a tall onion shaped finial with lotus bud petals surrounding the area nearest the head. Carved out of wood with black lacquer and gold-leaf.
