The Buddha is portrayed as walking, lifting the left foot slightly from the ground. His left hand is raised in a gesture of dispelling fear or abhaya mudra, the right hand hanging down at the side. This gesture means the Buddha is treated as if in slow motion reflecting the careful attention the Buddha paid to every activity. He is making sure that he is not stepping on any living creature. Wood with black and red lacquer.
